During the Covid -19 pandemic, millions of people have used technology for many reasons. We use our phones, laptops and many more devices to work, learn and communicate. But could we live without it? And if it wasn’t invented, how would our lifestyle be compared to today’s?

Technology is an addictive piece of equipment that we use every single day. Was there even a time in our lives when we haven't used these gadgets? As we become more socially connected with the world, we become more disconnected. If our relatives live far away, the first thing we would do to say hello is to pick up that mobile phone and call them. That’s exactly what happened in 2020.

With the Covid-19 pandemic still severely spreading, many of us had to use our devices to stay connected. Right now, I’m using my device to write this report. The vast majority of us are glued to the internet, forever reading, watching and learning. However, scientists say that the internet is a problem and the overuse of technology can effect our mental health. Because of this, a few people minimise the use of technology. One question mainly asked is: Could we live without technology?

Let’s go all the way back to the 16th century, where the idea of technology hadn’t been thought about. Everyone’s discussion was: Who will conquer this place? And : Who has the gold pendant?

As you see, none of these people had come across the idea of technology. But some clever people were ahead of their time.

In the 1500, the wheel-lock musket had been invented and famous painter and scientist, Leonardo Da Vinci, painted the world famous Mona Lisa. People during that time had thought of rooves above cities and many more wacky ideas that might be built in the future. Also, Mr Da Vinci created the plan of a helicopter(which was invented in 1907) and the pocket watch was invented as well. So you see, people did manage to survive without technology, but as we become so addicted to it, we can’t take our eyes of our devices.

There are many other ways we could communicate without our phones. We could meet in the park, go for a walk and do many other things. Sometimes we would need our phones for emergencies but we just need to minimise the use of it . In the present day, we might struggle without our devices. However , we should take a break from it( at least for a week)and spend time with our loved ones.

THANK YOU.
